We, at St John's Lodge No 328, have been supporting Anode for 2 years with food and monetary donations. It was first brought to the Lodge's attention when our Almoner read the report of the young mother who had walked from Watcombe in Torquay to the food bank, Anode, in Paignton.
On Monday 3rd March Nigel Williams, founder of the charity Anode, was invited to our Festive Board to give a talk on how Anode is helping families in the Bay. After giving a very inspirational talk on how he founded the charity he then talked about some of the families Anode has helped. Not only providing food parcels, but also caring about the social needs of the community. His motto is "Changing Lives, Giving a Voice and Fighting Poverty", and from his talk we could see that he is very passionate about what he is doing.
In the photograph Nigel is being presented with a cheque for £200 from the Lodge plus a further £140 which was raised from a fun night held on 22nd February. And we, at St John's Lodge, will continue to support Anode this year as well.
