Our April meeting was an initiation and with the rehearsals out of the way everybody was looking forward to an enjoyable ceremony. However, this initiation was going to be a little different from our usual ceremonies.
The new candidate had been proposed by the Worshipful Master and seconded by our Almoner. The candidate is also the son of one of our Past Masters who, during his year in the Chair of King Solomon was not fortunate enough to have a candidate for initiation. As we have a couple of candidates in line for initiation this year the Worshipful Master offered David (Past Master) the opportunity to initiate his son into the Lodge.
After opening the Lodge and working the agenda the Worshipful Master handed over to David. He did an excellent job initiating his son into the Lodge and Freemasonry. He was well supported by the officers and brethren who carried out work during the ceremony. And his son was a very confident and calm candidate during the ritual. David returned the gavel to the Worshipful Master, who then proceeded with the rest of the meeting.
During the risings the Worshipful Master pointed out that as the candidate's proposer he himself had been inititiated into the Lodge exactly 37 years ago. At this point our Almoner, the candidate's seconder, arose and announced it was exactly 36 years ago he was initiated into the Lodge. Lovely coincidences.
The meeting was well attended with a good number of visitors and we had 49 dining.
